With the sexual education in school here being stuck in the 1920s I can very well imagine that this is true.

Given the low birthrate here in Japan, it would appear that they understand what "NO" means just fine.

sexual education is important as well as psychological education in general, especially it would be benefcial for Japanese society with a very controversial psychological culture.

in the end, it'll be always self-education as well as learning on experiences, and sometimes from painful to very painful experiences. since, you see, i get a feeling governments and authorities worldwide are not interested to have many psychologically strong and healthy individuals around and while the hurt are getting their heads around how to get on with their wounds and lives those who don't care get to prosper and take the lead.

They could start with improving the 'storylines' of the infamous Japan AV films, a form of male sex education here, which feature very aggressive males, invariably forcing themelves on to women, who unsurprisingly at the end decide to accept and enjoy it. Even many of the salaryman and OL dramas feature similar themes.

Greater sexual education is needed for teens, primarily from thier parents, and sincere and caring teachers. Definitely not from activist teachers and private organisations with an agenda.

This is such a frighteningly large number that I think (and hope) it must be misleading somehow. I wonder how "fully grasp" is defined and measured.

Even if the number is somewhat inflated, it's still a societal disaster. Changes are needed immediately to education.

Good grief.

Having to teach people how to be human is surely a strong signal of the failure of education here to educate our young ones about how to be adults.
