Their biggest "asset" to such companies? They'll work for peanuts, if anything, in an age where the population is aging and the nation unable to deal effectively with it. They are ripe for abuse, and THAT is their asset. Sorry, but I doubt an 80 year old is going to be able to explain the differences between an iPhone 13 and 13 max pro, but maybe the newest fax machines!

So valued that when they change jobs it’s minimum wage time.

But at age 60 wages cut and benefits eliminated. Has to pay self insurance as well.

I’ll never be able to retire, nor will my husband.

Some people want to keep working, some people have to keep working. The former I respect, if they love what they do why shouldn’t they keep on doing it. The latter is a disgrace on society and if they are forced to work at greatly diminished pay/conditions then it is nothing less than wage slavery, unacceptable in any civilised society.

Zichi, I am sorry he became a plague on the company, it would have been much nicer if they had put up a plaque. :)

Sorry, I couldn’t resist that one.

The difference between an iPhone13-anything and an iPhone12 is toss all, and if we want to stop climate change, nobody should be buying them until their old iPhone is beyond repair.

If you are hiring older staff, pay them a fair wage, give them a comfy chair and let them take as many toilet breaks as they need. An afternoon nap would be good too.

For many, retirement means isolation, loneliness, poverty, mental health issues and a rapid decline.

I plan on working until I croak.

New hires of that age would bring lots of product knowledge? Not necessarily against the idea as there are some benefit to participation in society.
