A Cabinet Office representative. About 634 million yen worth of masks, protective gear and other products that local governments purchased with taxpayers' money in the battle against COVID-19 have never been used, a survey by the Board of Audit of Japan has found.

Since it's local government that will exclude Abenomask, which by its own raised so many question.

Well, masks are still a common sight so why can't they just flog them off to the worried-walking at a discount?

Yeah. put boxes on the help desk at city halls, whoever wants them, can grab them,,,they've already been paid for.

Sell them at half price at all the markets in Japan and use the money to help fund that 40,000 yen tax break they're going to give everyone. Hell, boost it up to 100,000 yen.

5 yen per person worth of PPE doesn't seem like that big of a deal. It's not like this stuff expires....
