quote of the day
We would like international students to not just study medicine in Japan but also learn about the high quality of Japanese medical equipment and pharmaceuticals. If they introduce these things in their countries after returning home, it will help grow the Japanese economy.

High quality pharmaceuticals? Funny, Japan continues to use all sorts of drugs that other countries stopped using ages ago because of various, sometimes serious safety concerns. Just take the over-the-counter Ibuprofen drugs you can buy here such as Eve - almost all of them contain an additional ingredient (apronal) that is banned in most other countries- you will face a large fine if you are caught taking that stuff to Australia for example.
I looked up an antibiotic that had been prescribed for one of my kids for a cold - turns out that too is only used in Japan, the reason being that it has a worse safety profile than most other commonly available antibiotics that do the same thing.

Someone really forget that many parts of the world are developing really fast, where's Japan's covid-19 vaccines where time the world needs? See that, Japan not that advanced.
Those students might learn new medical tech in Japan, however they'll also learn about Japanese rigid hierarchy and indirect communication, which really waste of time.

They also might be shocked at how little medical students in Japan study in their first two years of school.
Plus, at what age are the Asian students starting? 18 like in Japan or 21/22 as in other countries?
Finally, they might be shocked to know only Japanese is spoken in class while medical schools in Korea at taught in English, which many Asian students already know.

That brought back a memory of teaching English to employees of a Japanese pharmaceutical company. One day, one of the employees was absent from the class. The others told me he was being transferred to Malaysia and had to study the various drugs they produced before he moved there. They told me that in Japan, they mainly had to study the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood of the clinics they were selling the drugs to. (They may have been joking. They often did, which made me wonder if they were testing some of their company's products.)

High end Pharma products ? You are kidding.
most are copies, generics from western medicines, only sold because the better originals are not allowed to enter Japan.
the Japanese Pharma companies could not even get a generic Covid vaccin going.

Sorry to say it, but the best Japanese doctors are the ones that studied either in Europe or North America. Sadly the Medical University in Japan are a complete joke, which focuses on endless studying and little practice. You can see the proof of thst when the doctors cannot give you a basic diagnosis and pass you from Hospital to Hospital...
