When will people learn here that the bonus system ISNT a bonus but a way to control wages. If the company has a good year they toss a bit extra come july or December BUT your salary DOESNT increase. If the company is doing poor they can CUT your wages without even having to ask.

Yeah, it would only be a bonus if it weren't counted as part of your yearly salary. When yearly salaries are listed in this country, they include the 'bonus', which as GW pointed out, can be cut at the whim of the company. It's not a real bonus.

The primary objective of any company is to make more money, though. It seems synergistic to have both executives and salarymen on the same page.

I've never heard of anyone on an hourly salary getting bonuses. They are for people on yearly salaries (年収).
