Junko Ikawa, 70, a former head nurse at Iwasa Hospital in Gifu City, who used to plan birthday parties and trips to local areas with the foreign nurses. Even though the Japanese government is going ahead with plans to increase its number of foreign workers, a majority of the nurses accepted as part of the first intake in 2008 returned home.

More intrusion into my life outside of work would decrease my motivation and increase the chance of me leaving the company.
