Toshihiro Nagahama, economist at the Dai-ichi Life Research Institute, estimating that Japan's real gross domestic product for July-September will be pushed up by 0.2 to 0.3% this summer. He says summer heat pushes down spending on utility gas and bedding while boosting demand for ice cream and other items.

And don’t forget how the economy of Hiroshima will virtually Explode when people rush out to buy new shoes, clothes, cars, houses, and land. Good numbers for Abe et al, right?

I have found myself drinking more beer this summer. It's nice to have a cold, refreshing one at home after a long, hot day. (All in moderation, of course.)
