Even if viewers threaten to cancel payment because of my remarks, they still have to pay if they own TVs.

Er...not a penny out of me, pal. Try sticking your head out of your bubble of yes-men apparatchiks once in a while and you might notice what's going on in the real world. A lot of people think you're a tit.
jerseyboy
Arrogant SOB. In other words, no matter how screwed-up NHK is, or may become, because we are protected by law, the working stiffs still have to pay for it anyway. Japan Inc. at its worst.
Onniyama
Ah.... no we don't. Good luck with that.
Argus Tuft
We'll see about that.
slumdog
Why does he still have this job? I cannot think of one rational explanation. I can't even think of an irriational explanation.
Amidalism
Didn't pay before and I certainly have no intent to pay now. If they fired this fool and all his other right wing cohorts I might think about paying.
Sasoriza
How about computers and tablets?
Kabukilover
International outrage forced Abe to leave the Kono apology alone. The same pressure can force Abe to fire this scum ball.
Frungy
I don't have a TV, I don't watch NHK, and more and more Japanese people are becoming like me.
Personally though I'm surprised it is just 20,600 complaints. Given the population of Japan that is shockingly small.
smithinjapan
Not a yen from me, scumbag.

Previously we had a round of people refusing to pay over the LDP's giving editorial advice on a documentary about comfort women. Loads of Japanese began to refuse to pay. It was fantastic. That and another NHK scandal had collided to create a furor. Anyone remember what the other thing was? 5 or 6 years back?
DaDude
The usual procedure:
Knock Knock A: Hai B: NHK desu Opens Door B: Shock eto, Japanese speaking? A: No B: smiles, bows 3 times, walks away
Peacetrain
Why not a national campaign where people say they won't pay (or watch ) until Momii is fired.
How can a man like that be in charge of NHK with such a pathetic knowledge of history?
fds
guess, what? i no longer own a tv.... prove that i do...
Jimizo
I didn't bother buying a new TV after the switch to digital. I'll switch to the middle digital if NHK knock on my door ever again. What a despicable little toad.
ADK99
Taj - I think one of the (many) NHK scandals was over misuse of funds. That gave people a very direct reason to refuse to pay.
Alex Einz
No we dont, and the whole legality of forced broadcasting payments come more and more often in courts. Basically though, NHK cant enter house forcibly and can only bill you if u actually admit to owning a tv.
So, no tv here and go away... that said, now I havent had a tv for year after giving away my 37inch one and dont miss it at all , gonna get a proper projector next move just for the digitally streamed movies
samwatters
I don't even bother lying; I just say I'm not paying and if you have a problem with it you can visit the police box three houses down. I then shut the door.
sillygirl
Gross disgusting little man
tinawatanabe
You have to pay. If you ever become famous or arrested as a some suspect, no payment record won't look good on you.
gogogo
This guy can goto hell.
James Dean Jnr.
We learn from the West - I don't like what what you do, no more TV fees for you (In essence, economic sanctions).
Beer4me
I once was visited by the NHK collector and he asked for payment in Japanese, i said in briken Japanese "i dont speak Japanese and speak only English, a few months later another guy came by and he asked in Japanese for a payment but this time when i said i dont speak Japanese he replied thats ok I speak English..... Dam!
Ben Snyder
Not about to start now...
Mark Jozefowicz
why would you pay, just say no and close the door. What are they gonna do?
senseiman
I have never seen the argument in favor of abolishing the mandatory NHK fee system more convincingly put.
boweevil
Nah, it'll never happen. If some people were reluctant about paying before they're adamant about not paying now. No cashism for fascism... not to mention if you don't watch it why should you pay just because you have a TV? That's like saying you have to pay for walking by a restaurant because you have a stomach. Those guys talk big but when they come to the door they tend to back off if you're firm with them-or tell them you don't live there.
JTDanMan
Charming man.
diuneahma
Better pay up guys... Else how will the government pay for their fancy new war toys?
homleand
To be perfectly honest, I think I'm in love with this fellow.

@ Sasoriza (and others) - The law includes any device capable of watching NHK, including your keitai/smartphone. Do I pay, hell no. It helps to live in a building with a security door and camera/monitor so you can ignore anyone you don't know.
