It's well worth reading the full article.

Taku Yamasaki ( secretary-general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party under Koizumi ) said, "Japan has a 'manufacturer's responsibility' for creating IS because it agreed to the start of the Iraq War. In that sense, an inquiry into that war is necessary."

Thanks, JT. This is just what Japan needs.

I wonder if the Yomiuri covered this too?

Keep up the good work, Lloyd!

True but imagine if there had been no article 9. Japan would have been fighting there and would have had bear even more responsibility..

Sense I doubt Yomiuri will cover that too deeply. Its an excellent excuse for keeping article 9.

I was, of course, being facetious, Aly.

Precisely. Don't expect to encounter it in the Yomiuri empire.

There were thousands of Japanese people protesting in the streets before the invasion occurred. They all knew the whole invasion was a farce. But the Koizumi could not say no to his buddy Bush and he station troops in Iraq who did not engage in combat and were basically guarded by UK troops against attack. It was a total and complete sham done so Bush could use Japan and part of the coalition of the willing. Liberals knew the invasion would end badly, it ended up worse with the creation of IS that bush, blair and koizumi all own. The right wing folks were so totally fooled by shock and awe. Looking back on that time, it was if there were five year olds. Credit goes to the protesters. Koizumi did not listen to them but they were 100% right and Koizumi, a horrible PM wo accomplished nothing, was 100% wrong. 100,000 plus lives lost for nothing and a country destroyed. Koizumi, like his buddies bush and blair, is a war criminal.
