Face masks were previously only spotted sporadically in winter, but they have been seen all the year round, including in summer, since the pandemic began.

I cut out the plastic nose support piece before throwing it in the non-burnable waste and the rest of the mask in the burnable.

A lot of people were optimistic at the beginning of the pandemic because they reasoned that the decrease on economic activities would be better for the planet, other people that have to deal frequently with the disposal of medical trash saw this coming even at that point.

Can anyone say "Law of Unintended Consequences"?

And the question is, when are gonna be able to do away with all these covid theatrics?

Once this poster gets vaccinated you're only gonna see me wearing them the bare minimum where such rules are in place.

It's a convenient virtue-signalling prop, so many will not want to give it up. Trying to stop a virus with a flimsy piece of cloth is like trying to stop mosquitos with chicken wire.

Yes, that's why all doctors and even dentists have been wearing masks for several decades: virtue signalling.

Reusable fabric mask : use wash reuse and so on. When not good anymore boil it and recycle : patchwork and so on. If you do not know what to do with it, find yourself a granny, come in all age, gender and size.

Doctors and dentists don't wear the mask for the reason you are thinking......they don't, they never have prevented the wearer from inhaling viral particles....it even says it on the box. But hey this is a 2 year argument and if you didn't know then their use and efficacy then you aren't gonna learn it now. Enjoy wearing your mask

So do tell us: why do doctors wear masks?

Wow three down votes for my comment, no upvotes. People on this board don't like sustainable practices.

Yeah, but they don't wear them all day, driving the car, going shopping, running, exercising, walking at night with the dog etc. Surgeons wear them during surgery and then dispose of them after finished, not to catching some virus but to keep their germs from a cut open patient.

So do tell us: why do doctors wear masks?------ They never used to

You've obviously never been to a cancer ward. Or to any japanese doctor pre-pandemic.

Whatever your beliefs regarding the efficacy of mask wearing there is no justification for not responsibly and correctly disposing of them once used.

Agree with the comment about reusable masks, a far better, environmentally friendly and sustainable option. We have used them since the beginning. No problems.
