exactly. There is no VOID that anyone needs to fill. Diplomacy can work wonders

Is this referring to diplomacy, military, trade, economy, globalisation, IP, regional security?

Sadly, Japan is too insular to play the role of statesman in this regard. China will be the political giant in the region for the near future at least.
