quote of the day

He has almost no skill at messaging. Even at press conferences he's looking down and reading notes. That doesn't invite trust from citizens... The result is that his support ratings are falling.

The ironic one is that he was the spokesman under Abe. He has had lots of practice of speaking in front of cameras.

Free speech is window dressing, all questions are veteded before being asked and the answers prepared on a raft of papers. He just has to find the particular paper. At his age not an easy task from what I've seen.

Is that really the most important? Many people can be inept at things like that and still be good at what they are paid to do. He should be judged more on whether he can he provide stabe and competent leadership, especially in times of war, during a pandemic as we are experiencing now, when an economic downturn happens, etc.

Aso was a PM and had no skills at messaging as well. And he was known for not being able to read quite ordinary Kanji yet he sits within the cabinet.

Obviously those less skills were more than sufficient enough to get onto the top of the country and still to stay there, not even elected by all the citizens and under exploding corona infection numbers. Mr. Ito seems to be envying him, but that makes no sense. Being not part of it means never becoming part of it....lol

Everything these politicians say is written for them by the bureaucrats and their staff, checked and verified, and checked and verified again, that is why they all sound so dead and wooden.

Major ministries keep staff on-call until the early hours of the morning in case of an urgent question, taxis from Kasumigaseki are busy from 02:00.

Let's be honest. Suga has no skill at anything. Save for stricking his foot in his mouth.
