More people should be more vocal about this.

Exactly!! I don't undestand how world leaders, as well as the Olympic Comittee hasn't called Abe out on this yet.
Amidalism
I'm really surprised that it took this long for someone asides from the users on this website to come forward and say this. Seeing as how nearly everyday since Abe made that statement there has been some form a problem at Fukushima, I don't understand why the Olympic Committee hasn't said anything about it. They don't have to take the Olympics away from Tokyo, but I think that they should at least be putting some more pressure on them about it.

Mr/Miss Redwolf should write a scientific paper on the matter. That would show PM Abe up.
serendipitous
Although I'm happy Tokyo won the Olympic bid for 2020, I was also surprised he said those things and got away with it. He also further ostracized those living in Fukushima by saying, 'Don't worry, Fukushima is miles away from Tokyo'. Not a very nice thing to say for those living in that area.

Judging by your post? Complacency and acceptance of a lower moral standard from elected officials.

More than likely they were probably bought off, and paid VERY WELL not to question any news reports concerning Fukushima's nuclear troubles.
