At first glance, thought this was another パラサイトシングル, parasaito shinguru, “parasite single”, sponging off mom & dad for a few more years.

So she doesn't want to commute, is that the point?

By the location this could be the point but it is not clear, it may also be that security is higher at the hotel than in her usual place of residence, but since she affords to pay rent and a hotel this would seem unlikely.
