A woman in her 30s who purchased a bag costing some 500,000 yen in Tokyo's Ginza district. Sales of luxury products including imported brand items and watches have been strong in Japan, with more people buying expensive goods instead of traveling abroad for now due to the coronavirus.

quote of the day
I love brand items. Because I can't go on a shopping trip abroad now, I'm buying them in Japan.

A bag. 500,000 yen. Feed a family for a month, why don't ya?
Eastman
not case for many as now many have issues how to pay monthly bils and feed own kids.
that person may be single childless and since no family need take care of can buy brand goods online-it was always possible even before.
i will prefer to read news about how "new" LDP government will solve issue with poverty in Japan and rising of prices instead of article like this-not related to many at all.

She purchased the bag or her sugar daddy did?
Sven Asai
Not sure, but when she’s in her thirties it might already take quite more than only one sugar daddy per brand bag.

OK if you are wealthy, but if that 500k is like 2 months' salary, like it would be for a lot of Japanese women in their 30's, then it's pretty stupid if you ask me. That money could have been invested, for example.
Strangerland
To what, make more money to invest?
Is the goal just to have more money, or to have money to buy stuff like say, a 500k handbag?
Strangerland
Why? What made you think she was complaining, and not just answering a question asked of her?
Strangerland
Yes, who is stupid enough to think that a woman could earn her own money, right?
...right?
