quote of the day

If any country gets into an agreement with the Korean government in international law and the the Korean Supreme Court could overturn the agreement any time they wish to, it would be difficult for any country to do anything with the South Korean government.

Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono, saying that the South Korean Supreme Court’s decision last week ordering a Japanese company to pay compensation to people forced into its service during Japan’s 1910-45 occupation of the country posed a “serious challenge” to relations.

Ignore all rulings and Laws made by Korea. They do not apply internationally. SK will now have a difficult time making any contracts to sell cars, machinery etc overseas.

This Japanese outrage is the result of the Japanese misinterpretation of thr 1967 treaty that didn’t cover damages resulting from the criminal actions of Imperial Japan.

I like the guy. But, eh...he would say that wouldn't he?

Yo Kono - ya mean like this? The U.S. State department noted in a May report that Japan has no effective means of enforcing the Hague Abduction Convention, which leads to a pattern of noncompliance.

What exactly is '1967 treaty'? And what exactly are 'criminal actions of Imperial Japan'? The plaintiff for this case, Lee Choon-shik, himself testified "he applied for the recruitment" so how can that be interpreted as 'criminal action of IAJ'? Or are you simply waiting for him to change his statement as 'he was abducted by IAJ out of blue and IAJ made him work as slave' in the same way of how Korea fabricated Comfort Women testimonies back in 1990s?

As far as I know, Korea never disclosed the settlement in 1965, Agreement on the Settlement of Problem Concerning Property and Claim and on the Economic Co-operation between Japan and the Republic of Korea, until 2005 because it was inconvenient fact to spread Comfort Women propaganda. If you look at the meeting minute (p115~117) held in 1961/5/10 between Japan and South Korea prior to 1965 agreement, you should know ROK was fully aware of the damage was included in the compensation and ROK was the one who declined Japan's proposal to compensate directly to the individual victims.

If you really care about the truth (which I seriously doubt given the fact that you didn't even know about the year of treaty), it shouldn't be too hard to translate into your language.
