Kirk Tite, visiting the Oregon beach with his young son Trevor, referring to a huge floating dock cast adrift by Japan's killer tsunami that has washed up on an Oregon beach. It is believed to be the biggest piece of flotsam to make landfall on the U.S. West Coast so far. (AFP)

quote of the day
If this crossed the Pacific Ocean and it's this big, that means that just about anything of our worst nightmares could cross the Pacific Ocean. So we're kind of frightened of what's to come.

Who's going to pay for all this cleanup? It's not like cities in the U.S. are rolling in dough. U.S. citizens might get resentful (justified or not) if they've got to clean up Japan's garbage. Especially when bodies start showing up. That is going to be dreadful.
If I have a piece of lawn furniture, and the wind blows it out of my yard and into my neighbors window, who's got to pay for the damage? My homeowner's insurance? Their homeowner's insurance? I know it's a different situation, but an interesting problem.

I wonder what exactly this guy's "worst nightmares" involve? Unless he lives on the beach, what has he got to fear, exactly?
nath
He has to fear his fear himself.

What a goose, "worst nightmare" imagine how much of a nightmare those in japan felt when the stuff left the coast.
What a self centered flea this kirk tite is, sounds more like a tite fisted Wa__er to me.

What an idiot. The reason this dock made it all the way across the Pacific is because it's something that's designed to float in the ocean. Would love to know what Mr. Tite's 'worst nightmares' would be.

I'm thinking he's worried about radiation and I can't say I blame. You think all those fish swimming around are fine?? I don't.
tmarie
Indeed but you don't eat fish that was dead when caught for a reason. Since Japan hasn't banned fishing in the area, do you think what you're eating is safe? This guy is obviously worried and I don't blame him.

He should be counting his lucky stars that it wasn't a giant wooden penis that floated onto his beach.
