quote of the day

If we could have the nuclear reactors working, if we could speed that up, if you could obtain the understanding of the people after having verified safety - speeding up inspections and then speeding up the restarts, that's definitely a choice.

Itsunori Onodera, a former defense minister and senior lawmaker in the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). He says speeding up the restart of nuclear reactors halted in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear accident may be Japan's best option for riding out any oil and gas shortages that result from sanctions imposed on Russia.

Yeah... trade a few yen at the pumps for billions upon billions a year for decades when the next Fukushima occurs, and this from a guy who surely saw what nearly happened when Russia hit the NPP in Ukraine, and with Chernobyl. He's definitely in the pocket of the nuclear industry.

That’s right, because that far away war with consequences even here, requires corresponding ‘war’ measures to stabilize energy prices, stable supply and its distribution and availability for the economy and society. You can discuss your mental or green visions and other future dreams including a NPP free world later, when the war is over and other or ‘better’ supply is again available and guaranteed otherwise at reasonable efforts and prices.

Speed up and have another nuclear accident? How about leaving it the scientists? This is something you just cannot vote on.

The malarkey phrase "obtain the understanding of the people" means "the people" do not agree with you, and for good reasons.
