Syphilis is a terrible disease.
Without treatment, syphilis can be life-threatening. Syphilis can also be passed from mothers to unborn children.
Untreated syphilis can lead to death or serious health problems, including blindness, mental health disorders, and damage to the brain, heart, eyes and nervous system.

Why would anyone be "concerned about redness or other signs of infection in the genital area"? And anyway, nothing a dab of Nivea won't solve.
