I got the jab because my wife is pregnant. Then i get told that the vaccine isnt effective for up to 2 months.

By that time i guess the current wave of infections will be passed

I've had German measles when I was a kid, terrible experience. Years later, I considered it was a godsend because you're already immune to it and can't get infected (please correct me if i'm wrong) and was able to interact with friends who were infected. Vaccines are the next best thing aside from intentionally infecting yourself to develop immunity, of course. Just remember that before vaccination and antibiotics because a thing, people would die from measles centuries ago

Due to the near insanity of anti-vax idiots, quite a number of children have not been vaccinated against measles and we are now seeing unnecessary deaths from this disease.

There were always some who did not vaccinated, out of laziness or stupidity of their parents, but the numbers have grown to the extent that those children are no longer protected by herd immunity.

But I am surprised that this is the case in Japan, where people are less hysterical about such things and more likely to follow doctors' advice.
