if true and that much awareness was there, Japan's public debt would be....don't know but not as high as it stands now !

Less than 35% of t he people will show up for an election anyway due to "election fatigue." Promote the vice-governor for the remainder of the term, drop the idea of another money-wasting election and get on with the business already.

and how much of this wasted by this official at the tokyo metropolitan government committee? would save a lot of money if they offered voting by internet. they have "my number" in place so you just limit one vote to each "my number"

But, he shouldn't have stayed on, just to avoid this cost. Collateral damage I'm afraid.

Don't they have a vice-governor or someone who's supposed to take the place of the governor?

Maybe Masuzoe should foot the bill with his own money! I bet he's saved a lot!

It's called the cost of democracy. You could always have an appointee of the governing elite, save the money and have no say in the matter what so ever!

Since it was Masuzoe's incompetence and mismanagement which were the cause of his resignation and the cost of a new election, he and/or his party should be responsible for the bill, not the taxpayers.

What is the use of having a vice governor? Why not have the vice take over the office? Why waste taxpayer's money for another election in which this could be fruitless?
