quote of the day
It's important to stop at the nearest parking area if you face such an incident while driving on an expressway. If you are driving on a regular road, stop at a gas station or a place where there are some people and alert the police.

Easier said than done. The problem is that the victim was forcibly stopped in the middle of the expressway and did not have the opportunity to reach a parking area.

Makes me remember how Charles Bronson handled punks in the "Death Wish" movies. Need to keep an "equalizer" at the ready.

Equalizer? A dash cam and a dye ball?

.
Call 110 / 911 (No America) immediately.
And, maybe a good idea to carry some repellent agent such as Human Pepper Spray..

Sounds pretty sound, but I'd say you most certainly need to film it all.

I know Japanese expressways aren't necessarily as large or as wide as those in some countries, but could the driver not have gone into another lane? It's hard to imagine one car being able to block a whole expressway without some space being left to just drive around them.

When I had another driver behaving in a threatening and dangerous manner, I took out my phone and started videoing him. I made sure to indicate what I was doing which had the effect I wanted. He drove away and left me alone. That won't work with all crazy drivers but it can't hurt to try and at least you have some evidence if things do escalate.
