It's about time to move ahead with full-fledged discussions on the Constitution in the Diet.

Actually it's not about time.

Not only are there far more pressing matters having a direct impact on people's lives, such as pensions, de-population, health-care, wages, education etc etc, but consistently, poll after poll, citizens rank constitutional change as of a very low priority. In fact always around 10% or less.

Abe - listen to the people - that's what your Inc always says.

Unless of course when it doesn't suit you.

No it isn't. You didn't win enough. The people said meh

He's bee saying this same "it's about time" nonsense for seven years.

The peace-loving public doesn't want this. Only this son-of-a-war-criminal does.

Abe ignores present constitution anyway so why bother to change it.

Reading the Jiminto's ideas for a new constitution, their object appears to be to remove sovereign power from the people (as the current constitution states) and award it to the government.

It is extremely worrying to read that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe thinks that transforming japan in to a participating partner of the US government's imperialistic wars is the most important thing ever in the history of the LDP.

That clearly shows you what this party stands for and how far they are removed from what the people living in Japan really want and need.

For Abe, it’s been “about time” since his grandfather was PM in the 1950s. Article 9 doesn’t do much to pay the bills, you know.

It's been "about time" for Abe since his war-criminal grandfather sat him on his knee and told him about a "Beautiful Japan" in which people sacrificed themselves and fell like cherry blossoms for the Emperor -- a man Abe and his right-wing fascists idolize, but won't let speak freely because his views differ on the past.

THe majority has spoken on this issue time and again, and the do not want any chance in the Constitution. So, it's not about time, unless you are a dictator.
