quote of the day

It is time to abandon this ambiguity strategy. The people of Taiwan share our universal values, so I think the U.S. should firmly abandon its ambiguity.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, calling on the United States to end its longstanding policy of “strategic ambiguity” on defending Taiwan.

I agree!!!

Why urge the US for unambiguity when Japan won't do the same?

In other word, do not ask the US to declare its intention to defend Taiwan when Japan won't.

Now is the time! Do it. Coordinate efforts with the free world and give the ultimate middle finger to tyranny. Let’s be that generation.

Honestly, aren't we dealing with enough international crises now as it is? I don't see the need to gratuitously invite another one at the moment.

Says Abe, who's government still recognizes Taiwan as part of China because they are too nervous about upsetting the latter to even hint at the former being independent.

Japan calling on others to stop "ambiguity "....lol, thats good.

beat me to it old buddy!

Abe (a non-entity in Japan), telling the US what to do. The tail wagging the dog comes to mind.

Exactly. Who does he think he is? No one cares what he thinks.

So what does Abe propose to do about it?

Unexpectedly provocative statement from Abe. Where did that come from?

Taiwan people are Chinese who after having experienced democracy for decades

just have a collective want of not being a nation under tyranny.

A lot of trust went out the door with the Chinese takeover of Hong Kong. Was not that agreement

with the British binding?

Precedents were set but not the good kind.

As if Japan would step in were China to invade Taiwan. Stop worrying about words because we all know the U.S. would defend Taiwan. Japan wouldn't do a damn thing. Posers.

we all know the U.S. would defend Taiwan

Not under Biden administration. Biden refused to intervene in Afghanistan and in Ukraine, what makes you think he would intervene in Taiwan?

Ah yes Shinzo Abe, trying his best to imitate his war criminal grandfather Kishi Nobusuke (responsible for the suffering and deaths of millions during WWII, installed by the US as PM illegally pushed through the AMPO agreement against the wishes of the Japanese people, who forced him to quit as PM) to be a tool for American hegemony in the region.

He had almost a decade when his opinion actually mattered - perhaps he should have said this then.

What makes you think he didn't?!
