quote of the day

It's meant to be a compliment to wrestlers by fans delighted by a particularly thrilling bout. It sounds tasteless that cushions will be tied together by strings.

I dig the pillow thing. Sumo dudes can just be happy they don't hand out baseballs at this type of sporting event. I would dig them throwing baseballs even more.

The timing of the Japan Sumo Dude Association in coming out with this announcement is just stupid. Couldn't they have waited till after everybody gets over thinking they are a bunch of idiots due to recent controversies.

The tradition is that cushions are thrown when a Yokozuna is upset. However, too many people throw the cushions when they aren't supposed to, for any upset. Also, incredibly, more than once I have seen people throw cushions when a Yokozuna wins--a clear insult--because they thought the other wrestler should have won.

Just thought it was a pillow fight. My bad.

Agreed, shooting themselves in the foot yet again. Peeling away whats left that makes Sumo cool. Many things to worry about in Sumo and this wasn't one of them.

Just more idiots trying to look like something is getting done when they can't think of anything else to do. Grats.

Some stupid fans have brought this upon themselves and I think it's a good move.

Can I just say that there was no need for that extra will will.

The new format will see two larger (rectangular if you will) cushions instead of four single cushions. Which will make it easier for me to bust a move on my date. Now that's tasteless.

And it will look tasteless when I throw it anyway and three people will will go with it.

The Sumo fossils shooting themselves in the foot again. Taking away one of the few fun things that happen at a tourny.
