Lawyer Kaku Imamura, who wrote a book titled “Enzai Bengoshi” (Lawyer to fight against false accusation). More than 1,010 lawyers and scholars have submitted a petition to the Justice Ministry to end Japan's "hostage justice" system whereby suspects are held in detention longer if they continue denying allegations made against them.

In order to change this hostage justice system, it is important to go international. Appeal to international human rights organizations to name and shame the system. It is the only way that things will change. There has to be international condemnation of this system.

The more than 1,000 Japanese lawyers and scholars who petition against the justice system seem to align with alot of Japanese people I speak to on this issue.

 Appeal to international human rights organizations 

They will do nothing. Like for all similar problems, they have to go see the MPs (also called lawmakers in certain places). Meet all and each of them, present their proposals or reform and make them change the national laws. What do they propose instead ?

I agree. But its not about doing something. Its about naming and shaming so that there is at least dialogue on the subject. Its a starting point.
