There are too many beyond reforming and need demolishing but then the land taxes kick in.

which is the DUMBEST thing about Japanese law. There are over 9 million Akiya in Japan and the main cause of that is the land tax BS they have here. Just do away with it already.
The house in front of mine is an Akiya and so are sooo many in our neighborhood.
Tokyo alone has over 2 million empty houses
They need to do something about that.
