Finally. Grow out of your barbaric ways, Japan

Kanade

What is barbaric to you? The specific way(s) in which Japan catches/kills whales or the fact that Japan catches whales to begin with?

What is "barbaric" is the big lies about this yearly slaughter being "scientific" and, on top of that, a part of Japan's traditional culture. This funneled into another big lie, that the dead whales were dying for a Higher Purpose: Science, slash, Culture. Well, there was no science. And certainly there was no high culture surrounding the growing stockpiles of whale meat that few people wanted to eat.

"Barbaric" is the incredible waste that whaling has created. Perfectly good whales killed. Stockpiles of useless whale meat. Huge expenses for taxpayers. The only thing "traditional" about Japanese whale is the pork barrel politics that promoted it.

And oh yes, since whales are full of dioxins eating whale meat is bad for you.

Shiver me timbers me hearties, the days of Moby Dick are over and done.

No, it doesn't. Sadly.

You're right Cleo... as long as humans can see a profit from killing whales and endangered species they won't stop.

Animals are and will continue to be exploited all over the world.

Cleo.

For once I agree with you, but that is there price we pay as omnivores living in modern times. That diet also allowed us yo survive the ice-age., droughts, etc and focus in industrial evolution

An all vegetarian lifestyle is out as many regions won't support it nor would we have the growers.

Just a price for us getting to where we are today, use what you can to survive as a Species.

Readers, this discussion is not about vegetarianism.
