quote of the day

North Korea was firing missiles over Japan like it was the 4th of July last year. Look at all the things we've had, there's been no missiles fired, there's been no rockets fired. Japan thinks I'm like a world hero over there.

U.S. President Donald Trump, describing media coverage of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as "almost treasonous," and boasting that he was seen as a "world hero" in Japan because of the "wonderful agreement" he reached with the North Korean leader two weeks ago.

Japan thinks I'm like a world hero over there.

Really ? When did that happen ?

Japan thinks I'm like a world hero over there.

I only know my own personal anecdotal evidence, but I've met very few Japanese people who have expressed anything positive about Trump. That could be confirmation bias based on the circles I run in, but I don't run in circles that are based on the American political system, so I don't know that they would confirm my bias.

I suspect this is more Trump blustering, where he has imagined in his own head that someone loves him.

Or maybe Abe has been telling him the Japanese people love him. I could buy that too.

Yes, what Zichi-san said. Also, now in Japan Trump gets most publicity over his erratic trade policies, including tariffs on Japanese iron and aluminum, which are specialty products that only Japan has the capital and know-how to make. So I heard from US clients that US companies are screeming at Trump to stop it.

Yep...that's what I was thinking too.

President Trump has become a very astute and practical statesman. Long may it continue!

I don't know if many understand what he says to the extent English speakers do

"Japan thinks I'm like a world hero over there"

Only the Japanese who acknowledge reality.

Trump: "Japan thinks I'm like a world hero over there."

In today's news DPRK (NK) say they will continue to ignore Japan because Japan failed to stop its incoming missile drills for citizens, and because Japan still treats DPRK as an enemy..

If anything, Trump is the antithesis of the word 'hero'.

Even the words, 'complete loser' are too good for Donald Trump. What is wrong with him?

Wrong Spanky. Almost all Japanese think you're an admitted pervert, grifting con man, and serial liar - just like 57% of the American people and people in pretty much every other country in the world with the exception of Russia.

They also think you're overweight, unstable and have a bad haircut - remind you of anyone? Hint - you recently said you admired him because his people stand up when he speaks...

lincolnman Wrong. Get ready for another six and a half years of President Trump.

'Spanky' is correct. Trump likes to get spanked. LOL And he's bragging about himself again, gloating like a little kid. He never matured past elementary school. He's embarrassing, shameful, disgusting and pathetic. Maybe that's why he's kidnapped all those Hispanic children. It doesn't make him tough, it just shows what an immature bully scumbag he is.

Trump lives in his own "alternative truth".

The idea that he is a hero is non-sense, as anyone who lives in this country knows, but things like reality or truth has never been an obstacle for trump to call on their fake news.

lincolnman Wrong. Get ready for another six and a half years of President Trump.

Serrano Wrong. Get ready for Robert Mueller - and Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen spilling their guts on Trump's obstruction, collusion and who knows what else.

The only six and a half years Trump will get will be in Leavenworth.

Trump narcissism never ceases to amaze.

Just more of his propaganda. He knows fully well that no one in Japan thinks he is anything other than a LOONY.

I also have only anecdotal evidence, but so far the Japanese people that I’ve discussed Trump with, or who tossed some comment about him into a conversation, had attitudes ranging from utter dislike to, at best, mystification. Even ones who loathe PM Abe think he’s better than Trump. I’m sure there’s some Japanese out there who admire him or at least like some of his policies but I’ve yet to knowingly run into any of them.

If that's the case, then why is the North Korean administration spouting off nonsense about how they will ignore Japan until Japan ceases 'hostilities?'

It was in no small part due to these rocket launches and continual aggressive posturing from North Korea towards Japan, that Japan started to build its defenses and engage in war drills.
