Orders for shogi boards began increasing in April from people wanting their children and grandchildren to play the board game. We have sold more than double the number of boards compared to usual years.

A spokesperson for  shogi board maker Miwa Gobanten, which is being flooded with orders amid a boom in the traditional board game inspired by teenage prodigy Sota Fujii.

Jerked reaction, something I personally taught the kids not to do, "be like that guy/gal, she's/he's so cool".

That's great.

These days, most children tend to play video games or using smartphone's applications. In contrast, less children play old game such as playing outside or board games and Shogi as well. As for Shogi, there're a lot of efforts, for example, the way of thinking will activate their brain. It's also related to improve concentration, imagination and make strong mental, so I think the news that more and more children nowadays play Shogi is good tendency.
