i've said it before, and i'll say it again: try to keep power away from women and they'll find other ways to exert control over men. better to just let them have their fair role in society, at least it stops you getting pussywhipped in covert ways like this

This is pathetic. Then again, I have only one thing to say here : I don't care what culture you come from, but if any man allows his wife to completely take over your paycheck, then you DESERVE to get on your knees and get your pathetic daily allowance like an 8 year old child... losers!!!

This is bad news for the Japanese families. I feel that whoever thought of this is not a friend of Japan. The pocket money cut by wives may result in large number of divorces which would add to the problems. Hello Japanese Ladies, wives, use your brains and think, think, think again before you take such a drastic step. Farakh Malik

I'm an American woman married to a Japanese man. When we got married he wanted to do that whole allowance thing. I said no ,because he is the one that works for the money and I also said he was grown man and I'm not his mama. I found it too weird.

he was grown man and I'm not his mama

Welcome to Japan. This is the only reason that Japanese men get married. They wan't their mama to look after them their whole life. They will continue to go and have relations with others, even while married. But they need someone to take care of them. That's where a wife comes into the picure. Marriage here is not like it is in western society.

I have to make a comment, this is crazy i found this out at work recently. I work in an all Japanese office and i am the only foreigner in Snr Management, every male person in the office is given an allowance by their wife's this is crazy, i was asked at lunch if i was given an allowance by my wife and i was very shocked by the question WTF. Grown men being being given Pocket Money - I am from England my wife is Japanese, i am in control of my own money - as a grown man and as a father i pay all the bills and i give my wife a very good allowance - this is Japan and it's a cultural thing but also these men have never been given the chance to be strong adult, never been able to express themselves and still tied to their mothers, lack of communication, Lack of Love, Daddy days on Sunday with the kids and pocket money - WTF.
