An official with the Nagasaki prefectural government. Consumers are complaining that hotels have raised their prices to coincide with the government’s travel subsidy program. Some have even accused hotels of purposely hiking their rates to obtain the discounted amount for themselves through the program.

Prices fluctuate depending on the season and availability of rooms, so it is difficult to make across-the-board comparisons.

to understand that you dont need to be scientist at all.
its just pure greed and easy fat profit paid by our taxes...in other words all of us pay taxes for hotels prosperity even many of us will not stay there even one single night.
LDP could give cash to all of us same amount-if they wanted to do-and each of us could decide freely if will stay in some hotel or not.it could be much more fair.

Being cynical this is the supposed purpose of the program, to support the tourism industry with the money while at the same time promoting that people spend even more. If hotels can raise the price without losing costumers then unfortunately that is what is going to happen.

This past weekend, we took the kids to Tokyo Disneyland for my Son's Birthday. The hotel rates were outrageous compared to before they lifted the border controls. This is so wrong. Saying that the Hotels have to make up for losses is not right. They should be happy that they are full again. Now, they are taking advantage of tourists and locals.
What a coincidence that all prices skyrocketed right when the border controls were lifted.
The parks like Disney, Universal and others are doing the same. The ticket prices have gone up for Disney and the food and snacks inside have become ridiculous.
I see airlines doing the same.
We all took a hit during Covid, not just these big companies.
I wish that I could get everybody involved and not go to these hotels, airlines, parks, etc. who raise their prices. They were practically giving themselves away for anybody at all to come see them during covid. Now they want to raise their prices? It is so wrong and people should not put up with it.
In the end, I would like to say to foreign tourists, I have been in this country for 35 years. Japan says welcome back only for your money. They do not care 1 oz for you and two times proved this. When there was the big earthquake in 2011 and during covid.
