I love it... Japan in a nutshell. "We'll consider it" despite the numerous deaths it has caused, including the two children of the family forced to stop and get out of their car on an expressway, which then got hit by a truck, which is no doubt in part what this is related to. And the guy got off on technicalities like this stupid system of "thinking about whether it should be considered a crime" to do what he did. Morons. Get ready for the panels to be formed to think about making a decision to decide on thinking about a thought to plan a group to make a decision on a potential thought.

Isn't there already an existing broad law(s) to the effect of "driving with undue care" or the like, that covers such acts?
That it needs the Justice minister to even contemplate on this means something is seriously broken.

So there is no law for obstructing traffic on the motorway NOW? Then again most laws here are just mere suggestions with no penalty for breaking anyway, so no big deal.

I've had people come to a dead stop in front of me at least 50 times. Just hit your horn and they'll try to kill you. Some people get out of their cars too. Sounds like intent to injure to me. Were Japanese drivers taught this in driving school?

During a family trip two months ago, for whatever reason the truck in front of us suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway. I hit the brakes in time and we safely stopped, but the the truck behind us almost hit our car, magically swerving at the last moment. My wife started to scream, the kids were in the back and we would probably not survived being crushed between two large trucks

timeon,
I hear you.
Glad you made it out OK.

The problem is that unless the cops have a 'campaign' going on they totally ignore all drivers who infringe upon on he rules of the road.
I had a taxi driver pass me in the opposite direction yesterday,I was cycling despite the bad weather, who was driving with his left arm in a cast (resting the outside of his left-hand on the steering wheel)while texting with his good hand.
Absolutely unreal.
We were going in opposite directions so I literally came within 'inches of my life' yesterday morning.
Not a cop to be seen and probably even if there was one......the taxi driver would have been ignored due to it being 'out of season.'
