quote of the day

The market will be shifting from mega-solar to rooftops because of the lack of large, open spaces. As the tariff gets further reduced, the market will focus more on how to use solar power on site.

Newly built modest house 50mtrs down the hill has over 70% of it's roof space as south facing solar panels. I look down on it from my 2nd floor and imagine their energy bill is close to nothing or makes money. They are an all electric house.

I've met the owner and plan to ask him some day just how cost effective it is. Of the 5 new houses in my area over the past few years, only that one has panels. I wonder why?

Can I get some free and put them on my huge roof garden?

The cost ! Solar panels in Japan are probably the most expensive in the world.

25years - I assure you, for the owners of these new houses (all archit. designed not cookie cutter) cost is not a major factor.

The cheapest house has solar panels - the others don't. I can only assume that if you've got money who cares or they don't think outside the prescribed box or look at alternatives.

it takes a long time for builders to change and then once they do they will expect every new house to have solar panels. -That is not good either since solar may not work for you and the battery systems are not for everyone also.

"free solar" can easily be found with all the throw away solar lights etc. Still need to solder some connections together. Grade B and C panels are massively cheaper especially in bulk.
