quote of the day
Those who have been teleworking have shown a big change in their mind-sets. We see this as an opportunity to solve the issue of population concentration in Tokyo and hope to introduce measures to promote that.

introduce measures to promote that.
Well that should alone kill that idea, these measures might that mean involving government?, reams of paperwork and rules about what constitutes a work space? Are you required to entertain your boss on Skype? I hope it happens, I like happy people.

Yep a big change in mindsets. How ridiculous and unproductive the old work practices were. Stay away if you can, but many mugs will go back to them,

Too many Japanese like being crammed in with other Japanese. They feel uneasy if there isn't a literal herd to follow. It's not all people of course, but a significant part of the population. I can't count the amount of times I've seen beautiful rolling countryside with a solitary house or tiny village in it, only for some Japanese person to pipe up "Sabishii! Soko sumitakunai!"

This is an excellent opportunity to revive the countryside. The more people telework, the better. We need to encourage this not just because of the virus, but also to curb congestion, fight climate change, control overworking, limit harassment at work, and allow women to be mothers and career women at the same time. If the government can introduce legislation to aid and assist in making telework easier, it would be a huge victory for Japan and good PR for the LDP.

Time to buy an akiya and move to the beautiful countryside.
I am sure all the big corporates will be massively supportive of their staff doing the same......
Or maybe not.

There have been do many articles over the years of empty villages all around Japan while city residents cram into tiny apartments.
The cost savings for corporations from moving out of city centres could be enormous.

Been in the countryside teleworking for a decade and it's one of the best things I've ever done. This is a perfect recipe for solving the kaso mondai.
