Why not? Humans are humans. If they wanna go, let them go.

Probably no female announcers in Brazil then as well... I'd be rather upset if I was a competent female announcers wanting to go but the recent death in Thailand may have made them more sensitive.

Gosh, how chivalrous.

What's so 'insecure' about South Africa?

well, there are still a lot of social tensions in SA and obviously the chance to get publicity during an event like the world cup will attract some protests that could end up violently. I hope it doesn't but like with any other big event, there will always be people who use it to send a message. I loved living there but there are definitely some parts of most cities where caucasians are not well received, quite understandably but not sending female announcers is just over the top.

I hate to tell you this Mr. TBS spokesperson, but a woman reporter couldn't fare any worse than the strong brave manly reporter rrecently killed in Thailand.

Ironic, considering how insecure Japan is.

I never watch Japanese anyway -I don't even have a TV. Otherwise I would just boyicott all those archaic oyajis. That said, the whole soccer business also excludes totally women, so that's not a surprise that the media that follow them have a similar mindset.

What did the death in Thailand change ? Are women living in Japan eternal and immune to accidents and crimes ?

But yet millions board the train everyday!

Judging on the state of the Japanese team, no Japanese reporter necessary for South Africa.
