quote of the day

We should not be discriminated against because we're women. There's no excuse. I want St. Marianna University to admit the injustice and apologize thoroughly.

One of four women who took entrance exams for St Marianna University School of Medicine. The group has filed a lawsuit at the Tokyo District Court, for discriminating against women in its entrance exams. Similar lawsuits have been filed by those who took entrance exams for Tokyo Medical University and Juntendo University since 2018, after it became known that the medical schools illegally rigged test scores to disadvantage female applicants.

I'd like to think something like this would be seriously investigated and more than a few people named, shamed, and punished. But then I remember where I am...

exactly. Here- just business as usual. News like this does not even raise an eyebrow.

Medical schools have their reasons to select male doctors over females (which would disappear with actual, real equality in the workplace in hospitals) so to a certain point it is understandable that they opt for accepting more male students, but even accepting this situation as inevitable (which is not) that still leaves them as wrong for doing it while hiding the bias.

If the school is going to be segregating based on gender and it thinks it is justified then it should do it openly so the students will know their chances.

Men are also discriminated in other sectors, so don’t cry around here. They don’t even let you check homeworks or teach something at some well- known educational companies if you are a male job seeker.
