quote of the day

We suspect the Trump administration’s poor performance in responding to the pandemic is also a factor in how Japanese leaders judge American reliability. And in private, some Japanese officials speak of fatigue at managing a disruptive president who shows no signs of steadying or becoming more reliable.

America's great national shame only grows worse. I'm not even confident Mr. Trumps repudiation in the November election, assuming that is the result, would heal the wounds he has opened. In fact regardless of who wins in November I see continued and possibly accelerating discord and violence in the US.

I think everyone's pretty fatigued by the Trump sideshow at this point.

They have to know by now that Trump is not going to get any more stable or reliable than he is right now, but the Japanese government isn't exactly a pillar of reliability, knowledge or stability either. They just lucked out so far with the pandemic because their handling has been well short of anything special. Worry about your own house.

I feel sorry for Abe San. He listens to Trump tell so many lies about Japan and just smiles. The good thing is that now Japan is talking about first strike against a country that might launch a missile attack against Japan. Why? Japan cannot trust Trump.

Not Abe! That guy jumps up and down at Trump's heels, forever praising his master and waiting for a biscuit.
