We want Japanese lawmakers to create a system that would check on whether people are the victims of domestic violence and make it so that children cannot be easily returned from Japan to the United St

A Japanese woman who has worked at the Center for the Pacific Asian Family in Los Angeles. She says the center has received 91 calls from Japanese people from January through July this year, complaining of domestic violence, and asking about the implications of the Hague Convention on their children if they were to leave the country with them. hitting a spouse is domestic violence. What's so difficult to understand about that?

Sorry for being so stupid.

Guess what lady, there already is a system for that, and Japanese taxpayers don't even have to pay for it - the United States justice system! Aho.

Er... hitting a spouse is domestic violence. What's so difficult to understand about that?

Er...nothing at all. Pochan's obvious point which you missed is a Japanese wife suffering from homesickness or a violence-free troubled marriage is NOT domestic violence.

You only need a Japanese system for this when you don't trust the US justice.

I really think they need to define exactly what domestic violence is or this could get messy.

Yes, that would help many Japanese kiddos victims of their nihonjin families. They could take them away from that hell and send them to the US for adoption. That'd be perfect for me. The little girl that was locked 18 hours without air con could still be alive.

Why on earth doesn't this woman in the US simply have these women contact authorities INSIDE the US to deal with DV.

Because they do. The problem is those that invented the story are not believed by American police and social workers. There they are able to check facts by asking medical reports, interrogating the partner, other relatives, neighbors, all acquaintances... So the second step is to try it in Japan where it's so easy since they get only the woman's side of the story,

If its happening it will be dealt with in a much fairer way than could ever take place in Japan! And I aint even a yank.

I also bet most of these women are simply trying to figure out if they can get away with kidnapping or not most likely!

Are you implying domestic violence never occure in japanese wife/american husband couples?

tokyobakayaro - Never said that. I'm implying that the majority of Japanese women who kidnap their kids back to Japan will lie about abuse in the future, and the Jgov will accept it no questions asked

isnt it already impossible for a foreign father to see his child if the mother wont allow it?

Japanese women will only have to hint at domestic violence

Are you implying domestic violence never occure in japanese wife/american husband couples?

and so it begins. Japanese women will only have to hint at domestic violence by their brutish foreign devil spouse, and the Japanese gov't will continue to help kidnap the kids.

This is certainly mean thinking on my part but I wonder if many of those phone calls were only about the implications of The Hague treaty.
