We will be unable to control infections if more businesses decide they can do whatever they want.

What an idiot!

These businesses are just trying to survive.

Citizens should report companies, which are refusing to let their employees work from home.

If you want to control the infections in Osaka or lets say in Japan, cancel the Olympics, keep the vaccination sites open, and continue with the vaccine roll out programm.

Covid is most dangerous after 8pm- idiots.

Use science to determine how to partially open now and have goal posts for each phase to fully open?

Contact-less payments matter.

Vaccination status matters.

Sitting inside or outside matters.

Pickup or delivery matters.

Mandatory masks for everyone picking up and delivering matters.

I fail to see how delivery/pickup after 8pm isn't an acceptable risk given that people still need to eat.

Funny how bars in Shinsaibashi (and now restaurants too) have been open for over a month now but there hasn't been a 'surge'

People are still packing out in Triangle park in the centre of Amemura as well

Somewhat spoils the narrative, doesn't it?

"they can do whatever they want" except vaccinate their employees.

The social, psychological, and economic devastation caused by the hyper-neurotic reactions to a virus with at least a 99.5% survival rate has been FAR worse than the virus itself.

We see plenty of patterns in the U.S. and Europe which tell us that the more we mandate masks, the more we lock down, the more restrictions we put in place ... the HIGHER the infection rates and death rates go.

And speaking of masks ... they don't work, people. If they did, how come the coronavirus is still around? Especially in Japan, where everyone is wearing masks everywhere -- even when they're outdoors and there's no one within dozens of meters of them.

Every time I hear of some cluster breaking out in some school or somewhere, I always think, "Hmmm, the people there must not have been wearing masks." But the thing is, they WERE masking. EVERYONE is. But the virus is still going around. Why is that?

Viruses are going to virus, people. A mask won't stop it. It's an airborne virus that people exhale and inhale. When you wear glasses and a mask, your glasses fog up. That means your breath is going OUTSIDE your mask.

Would you get on an elevator with five or six known COVID-infected people on board -- with just a paper face-diaper to "protect" you? That's almost as insane as the "safe sex" idea. (Would you have "safe sex" with a person who you knew had AIDS?)

Protect the most vulnerable -- namely the elderly (the average age of COVID death is around 80 in most countries) and those with preexisting comorbidities (in the U.S., 94% of those who've died of COVID have had an average of at least two such conditions).

But for the love of God, stop treating everyone as being at EQUAL risk of dying from this virus. One that (again) at least 99.5% of people recover from, including nearly 100% of those who are healthy and under 65.

Cases have been elevating even with other measures still in place, this would be one of the reasons,

The social, psychological, and economic devastation caused by the hyper-neurotic reactions to a virus with at least a 99.5% survival rate has been FAR worse than the virus itself.

There is no evidence of this being true, on the opposite, epidemiological studies clearly indicate the pandemic would have very strong effects on the economy without social distancing measures.

The problem is people without knowledge of how to correctly interpret the data scientifically, or that try to mislead others with improper treatment of that data. Not all places have been affected the same, not all places require things to be forbidden to make people behave in certain ways.

Every time I hear of some cluster breaking out in some school or somewhere, I always think, "Hmmm, the people there must not have been wearing masks." But the thing is, they WERE masking. EVERYONE is. But the virus is still going around. Why is that?

No measure is 100% effective, that is completely different from saying they are useless, the virus is known to be extremely easy to spread, do you want to se more clearly the effect of the measures? compare the rates of influenza this past winter season with the one last year.

Science is clear, masks work, COVID kills even young people, vaccines are safe and effective, protecting the vulnerable is not realistically possible without stopping transmission in the general population. Somehow nameless people repeating the opposite on the internet is not enough to disprove it.

I guess he doesn't visit Japan Today and didn't see the top story photo.

It's the Governments job to protect its population. Government in Japan has proven to be quite useless.

No, they haven't. Particularly not as predicted by the hysterical: https://covid19-osaka.info/

That can be explained by this:

"Viral interference, originally, referred to a state of temporary immunity, is a state whereby infection with a virus limits replication or production of a second infecting virus."

Somehow nameless people repeating the same thing on the internet is not enough to prove it either...

The goverment must declare this pandemic a "special circunstance", just like they did on the Fukushima devastation.

The people must ably the j-gov measures on "special circunstances".

That can be explained by this:

"Viral interference, originally, referred to a state of temporary immunity, is a state whereby infection with a virus limits replication or production of a second infecting virus."

No it would not, because both viruses would still be detected, meaning cases would still be numerous, just with less complications, and since most of the population in Japan has not even been infected with coronavirus it would mean only a similar percentage of the influenza cases would have been reduced.

There is no realistic way that 99.99% of the people that could have gotten influenza coincidentally were infected by COVID and that none of the virus could be detected in them. Specially because the phenomenon has not been described for these two viruses anywhere in the world in over a year and a half of millions and millions of cases in the world. This explanation simply has not value.

Somehow nameless people repeating the same thing on the internet is not enough to prove it either

That is the thing, the people that are saying that masks work, COVID is lethal and protecting only a segment of the population is not a solution are not just "nameless people" as the ones defending the opposite, they are the experts and professionals of the world, as in every single medical and scientific organization or institution with a name.

They CAN do whatever they want. And it’s refreshing to see them doing so and not following what their impotent clueless government is advising.

You can include yourself as one of those nameless people. What are your credentials ? Are you a doctor actually treating patients, involved with virus research etc. ? I believe people like Michael Yeadon, ex CEO and chief chemist of Phizer who state that masks are useless and warn not to take the vaccine, also the many doctors around the world who are warning of the dangers and those many people's testimonies of the damage to their health after the jabs.

Who is telling everyone to comply to these Covid rules ? The drug companies, Doctor Fauchi, Bill Gates, top government officials around the world and " WHO" World health organization. You can in part believe information from the CDC- Centers of Disease control and the VAERS reports that gives deaths and injuries data from around the world which it is said that numbers far exceed what they tell you. However, they are in great enough numbers to scare you from injecting yourself when there are other medicines available for the treatment of Covid. " Hakman " post sums up the real situation of what is happening with this "so called " pandemic with it's extremely high survival rates which do not warrant this idiotic social distancing, constant mask wearing and ridiculous 8pm lock downs. or any lock downs in general. The whole of society is being damaged and it will be hard to recover.

You can include yourself as one of those nameless people.

There is a difference when nameless people just repeat what the scientific consensus holds, and when nameless people contradict it. Mostly that the value of what the scientific community says is still the valid argument.

Why are my credentials important? what part of what I wrote depends on them? absolutely nothing.

Yeadon has been dead wrong before, and as long as he just keep repeating his personal beliefs without supporting it with any evidence it can be still considered wrong. It may surprise you but science do not depend on the letters after anybody's name but the data used to support the conclusions. Yeadon has no data whatsoever and supports something that has been proved wrong by dozens of studies around the world that prove the value of non-pharmacological interventions, such as masks.

Who is telling everyone to comply to these Covid rules ?

Again, not "who" but what, and that is science. Not a single person or organization but the whole of the scientific community based on data collected by literally hundreds of professionals around the world.

They simply hold much more weight than imaginary conspiracies without any evidence and that depend on people speaking only about their personal beliefs without any data to support them. You can believe those conspiracies all you want, that does not make them less irrational and easy to prove false.

I'm all for a strict lockdown where restaurants would first face a loss of any liquor license, and then a complete closure as well as possibly jail time for ignoring laws that should be passed, but ONLY if the government actually provides assistance, which they are not and have not despite promising to do so. Asking them to voluntarily close then saying they don't qualify because it was their choice, and then pointing out they can't actually be forced to close.... just doesn't cut it. You want to keep up social distancing? Stop commuter trains. Ah, but can't do that! Just gotta stop that pesky alcohol!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

You want to know why businesses are doing whatever they want? It's because your "requests" are about as scary and effective as a declawed kitten. The urging and requests may have worked last year when the first SoE was implemented and people were rightly scared and worried about COVID but now? Now people are tired, frustrated and resigned to living with COVID - the fear has ebbed. It is our new normal and so you can take your "requests" and shove it.

The NHS in the UK found that FFP3 masks cut Covid infection significantly for nurses dealing with Covid patients. Other masks are far less effective. However you cannot wear a FFP3 mask for more than 60 minutes, if you do you are going to damage your health. Most masks are completely useless after 20 minutes when they become saturated by the moisture from your breath.

Wearing masks outside of a clinical setting is damaging to mental and physical health for very little or no benefit. The negative effects of starving the brain of oxygen are already becoming apparent, as evidenced by the lack of clear rational thought that leads people to wear masks outdoors. Other symptoms of mask wearing include passivity, gullibility, illogical behavior and compliance with pointless rules.

Expect a sharp increase in early onset dementia over the next few years. The effect on small children will also be profoundly damaging. The most obvious short term damage will be a rise in cases of heatstroke in July, August and September.

The Japanese have been doing what they want since this pandemic started, seemingly believing they will be unaffected by something that affects absolutely every country in the world
