quote of the day
Whistle-blowing can be an important tool and trigger. Companies probably need a structure in place that encourages whistle-blowing, which could work as a warning to the management.

It’s true that it can be a powerful tool towards transparency, but there is also selective and opportunistic whistle blowing which we’ve seen since time immemorial used for nefarious reasons. What lies lurking in the background can often be just as bad (or worse!) as the target. Over simplified ‘black and white’ narratives should be approached with caution.

Yes, partially true. In my experience over 90% of whistleblowings are spurious or malicious or unfounded and I have been involved in scores of these over the years.

Then maybe a thank you to Olympus whistleblower Michael Woodford is in order after he was lambasted in the japanese news for doing the exact same thing as this Nissan anonymous whistleblower.

Aly. Unfortunately the result was mate that he turned much of Japan Inc. inwards again. The fact that he was a foreigner over-simplified an extremely complicated problem too. Transparency has to first be an actual goal for it to ever be realised and certain types will always just see it as an affront to Japanese ways and culture! Exceptionalism 101.

So True! Hat off to you mate! (love the facebook posts too!)
