The city of Yokohama, which lies at Tokyo’s doorstep and is a thriving metropolis in its own right, is a wonderful location to spend several weeks or months — or even years — really getting to know its numerous local attractions. Whether your stay is for business, leisure or perhaps both, the fully serviced units on offer at The Apartment Bay Yokohama are unmatched in terms of an accommodation offering that combines both functionality and style.

Managed by Ken Corporation Group, The Apartment Bay Yokohama occupies the sixth through 12th floors of the same building as the Westin Yokohama hotel and has everything you would expect from serviced apartments. The welcoming atmosphere begins right at the ground floor entrance lounge, with comfortable sofas, jazzy music, laptop or mobile charging outlets and unlimited self-serve coffee and tea. A round-the-clock concierge adds to the warm hospitality.

After using your key card to access a private entrance to The Apartment Bay Yokohama suites, the first thing you will notice — before you even get onto the elevator to your room — is the fragrance: the scents hint at anise or rich vanilla, others of something more woodsy. All with just the right touch of subtlety.

The serviced apartment units themselves are available in nine different layout styles, ranging from studios to one-, two- or three-bedroom units. There is something for all guests, whether you are a solo resident or a family with children. Each apartment is at once modern and minimalist, featuring high ceilings and accented in tones of beige, gray and crème, with some black and natural amber thrown into the mix.

Of course, there are all of the expected features: Wi-Fi service, washers and dryers for laundry, and large-screen televisions with built-in Bluetooth and bilingual (Japanese/English)  language toggling options. In addition, unexpected touches also abound: hidden rolling doors that create instant bedroom separations; stylish porcelain bowl sinks perched lovingly atop the bathroom counters; and adjustable light fixtures in the bathing area — for those nights when you just want mood lighting and a hot bath.

Each unit comes equipped with enough basic household supplies to get you started on your first few days of residence, such as cooking oil, dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. Amenities can be replenished during the twice-weekly housekeeping and linen service. Built-in intercoms allow easy communication with the concierge, as well as with delivery persons for services such as Uber Eats or Amazon.

Additional offerings at The Apartment Bay Yokohama include postboxes, a designated smoking area and an automated parking lot (subject to additional fees) for those who travel via car. There is also a fitness center outfitted with Technogym machines on the sixth floor. Depending upon availability, guests may also pay an extra fee for use of the gym and pool at the Westin Hotel one floor below, where the aptly-named Heavenly Spa additionally offers a range of sumptuous body treatments.

Guests of the serviced apartments may also utilize the Westin Yokohama’s room service or enjoy breakfast at its French restaurant, Brasserie du Quay (again for an additional fee). There are also a multitude of other bars and restaurants in this vibrant area of the city, all just a short walk or commute from The Apartment Bay Yokohama.

Of course, many of Yokohama’s attractions are within easy travel distance via public transportation, such as the bayfront Yamashita Park and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

Those who like exploring on foot, however, will want to dust off their walking shoes. Either way, you will have a cozy home awaiting you each day back at the Apartment Bay Yokohama — where you will most certainly be glad that you stayed.

The Apartment Bay Yokohama has a minimum stay of 30 days. Rates start from ¥450,000 (studio), ¥420,000 (one bedroom), ¥822,000 (two bedroom) and ¥1,170,000 (three bedroom). All prices include utilities, Wi-Fi and housekeeping fees. Hanging clothes closets are available. Dressers or additional furniture should be purchased separately. A one-month deposit is required if staying more than 90 days and is refunded upon checkout.
