2013 baseball season to open March 29

The 2013 professional baseball season in Japan will kick off on March 29, with both the Pacific and Central Leagues holding their opening games on the same night.

Nippon Professional Baseball said Thursday that the Pacific League will see Nippon Ham Fighters taking on the Seibu Lions, the the Lotte Marines will face the Orix Buffaloes, while the Softbank Hawks meet the Rakuten Eagles. In the Central League, the Yomiuri Giants begin the defense of their pennant against the Hiroshima Carp at Tokyo Dome, while the Hanshin Tigers face the Yakult Swallows and the DeNA BayStars meet the Chunichi Dragons.
