England should seriously think about bringing back any one out of Andrew Strauss, Alistair Cook, Michael Atherton or even Graham Gooch as openers. They may have retired long time back but they still will not do worse than Hameed, Rory Burns and Zak Crawley.

This is easily the worst England team I have seen in my 35 years watching test cricket. Apart from Root there are simply no batsmen. They need a shake up of their outdated, weak county system to become competitive. It may well take a decade.
