Not buying this. Suspect the younger one tested positive, but is an outside medal contender, so the washed up senpai was ordered to step forward and confess to save his butt. The hijinks that occur in the global sports never ceases to amaze.

Has to be the most bizarre & twisted doping (sort of) case I have ever seen. And definitely the saddest.
Imo if you can't trust your teammates then training/competing becomes pointless. Reckon the J canoe federation should focus on creating a healthy team culture (if it's not too late) and am not sure cctv everywhere is the long term solution. (what's next, drones?)

Awww... he said sorry. That makes it all okay.
He needs to be banned from professional sport -- in any aspect -- for life, and sued by all those involved besides himself.

Canoe sprinting? You've got to be joking. They look like kayaks to me, not canoes.
Anyway, this guys a piece of work, but still better than taking a metal pipe to the knees like that female skater did in Detroit many years ago.
He finished first after spiking the other kayaker, so he's not washed up.
anything is possible in Japan.

No, positive-tested Komatsu finished first, not the saboteur Suzuki
"Despite the lifting of the temporary ban, Komatsu's results at the national championship, where he finished first in the men's kayak single, have been nullified."
That was the skater's husband's goon

My mistake.
yeah I know but if I remember correctly it was her idea. I could be wrong. Strike two maybe.

No prob. Unfortunately, his win has to be invalidated thru fault not his own
That was the skater's husband's goon
It was her ex-husband's idea. She may or may not have known
There's a critically acclaimed movie about that in the theaters too:
