Way to go, Bianca!!
Outstanding Championship win by Bianca Andreescu. She had to outplay the greatest female tennis player to get there. It wasn’t easy and she definitely earned it. Bravo!

"She the north"! Congratulations Bianca! Wishing you continued success in the future. I hope this is just the beginning of a long and illustrious career.

Apparently this girl did the same thing as Osaka - and apologized for beating Serena: https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/tennis/news/us-open-champ-bianca-andreescu-does-the-most-canadian-thing-apologizes-for-beating-serena-williams/1oqrsohad7x0f1nt08w722nh59
The humility is refreshing. But I get it - this girl wasn't even born when Serena began winning, so she probably grew up her entire tennis life watching her. It must feel crazy to suddenly beat her, and at 19 years old.
And respect to Serena - she may not be winning, but she's in the finals. After all these years. Very impressive.

the Romanians I know also celebrated, and I see nothing wrong in that. She speaks the language, lived there and started tennis there, and a Romanian, Halep, encouraged her to become a pro. Congrats Bianca!

I’m glad she lost - her tantrums & dummy-spitting in recent years have left a bad taste in my mouth.
Also, why are these ladies apologizing to her for beating her !?

Serena doesn't need the win. She is still the highest-paid female tennis player and has earned $88.6M over her career.
Congratulations to Bianca Andreescu. Most sports are about the best player at any specific time. It was her time.
Wikipedia says she has a Romanian name from 2 Romanian-born parents. She was born in Ontario.

I was wondering about her origins, given her name: she is born in Canada from Romanian parents. She moved to Romania and started tennis there at 7. She practiced until she was 11 there, then her family returned to Canada. Her total wins are about 7M USD.

Couldn't agree more.

She play better than Naomi Osaka and mature than Naomi-chan.

think the apology for beating Williams is because she's American playing in front of a US crowd. Perfectly understandable, but unnecessary. too polite

Because to these young ones, Serena is one of their idols growing up

Must be a dream for the young Canuck. Sorry to Serena, though.
