Talk about what ? For sure IOC will offer some token money to LOC Tokyo to show how gracious they are. And to try and swing the publics mood. But it’s too late, for most people the games are done, it is not even a topic anymore.

the gymnastics event last week has no baring on the Olympics. Test events ? What are needed now are qualifying events but stil impossible because of the pandemic. And for track and field those are not possible before April at the earliest.

Most likely Bach will go to Sumo, maybe even a soccer game to show how safe it all is.

but the problem is bigger than the virus issue. Who will come to Tokyo ? People have other priorities.

IOC’s only correct ethical stand now is cancellation, ask solidarity from broadcasters and sponsors , which they will get with a good approach and test some alternative events. One sport in one country with all global top athletes per sport limits the numbers and thus the risks. Basketball in the US, football and track in Europe, etc.. and give Japan baseball, volleyball, judo....

Where is Koike? Did someone get COVID-19, or Are they hiding from the press?

That's a nice close-up of Bach's hair in the homepage thumbnail.

They have to hold emergency meetings to talk about how they absolutely MUST hide the numbers from people and convince them that the Games HAVE to go forward in 2021 no matter what. Who cares that it's 200K a day now in the US, and more than a thousand per day and growing exponentially in Japan? Who cares that foreigners here, despite not being allowed to leave (unless they don't want back in) and could not reenter until October, are being targeted as the cause of Covid-19 in Japan -- let more in without testing to compete in and observe the Games (then blame them after the fact)? Not having the Games would mean Bach would lose money, and Koike reputation. Human lives? Bah!
