IOC confident Tokyo can resolve complaints over budget cuts

Take a look at that picture! That alone tells the story of these Olympics. Just how many people are needed in a meeting for this issue?

There are at least 100 people attending this meeting, and I will bet none of them make less than 5 MILLION yen per year. Budget problems? Easy solution there!

Well, the budget for the Tokyo Olympics is already three times more than Abe quoted in his bid of lies to obtain the games. Unfortunately, a lot of this cost cutting is directed at amenities and location of venues. People will be traveling far outside Tokyo to venues with only a few toilets. I’m not logging in to buy any tickets for this fiasco.

Two thumbs up to @Yubaru for being the first to hit the nail on the head! Imagine what all those suits cost.

Curious though. It's obvious there's no cash to throw around like in the old days. Why are people so passive about this crass abuse of responsibility?

Wow, that was the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in awhile.

If its not corrupt, its demanding more money, and needing more austerity, and then back to corruption again.

Preparation for the olympics have been similar to a clown car crash, and my prediction is that there will be more problems during the games as well. I personally don't think that Tokyo should have been given the olympics. The money and effort would have been better served in Tohoku.

couldn't have said it better myself.

to think that each person in the pic has their hands in the coffers taking a piece makes you realize what a ridiculous waste of time and money this two week meaningless sporting event is.

Who are they deceiving, they fly to Tokyo first class, stay in 5 star hotels, eat expensive dishes all funded by the mere mortals.

Some duct tape, curtains, some signs, and you're practically done!

start budget cuts with personnel cuts.

and the olympics are outdated -- who needs to spend 500 million dollars on water polo and javelin?

Just look at all those snouts in the trough in the picture above. Gee, I wonder why the Olympics are so expensive?

Oh, and also, let's not forget this:

The Olympics are nothing more organised crime. A vampire sucking the last drops of life from Japan's moribund economy. Our grandchildren yet unborn will still be paying for this folly.

As above that's a whole lot of teeth sucking people to make a decision. All of them garnishing tax payer money. Bet any of them could kill a child and mother and not be charged because they are "special" also have noticed a lack of women. Who actually are proven organisers. But let pugnacious old men fail. There's where the money goes.

Death by overwork, known as "karoshi," is a problem in Japan with employees often forced to work long hours despite government measures to try to prevent it.

What are the govt measures the person who wrote this article is talking of.

There is too much cut and paste articles these days.

If one was new to japan or resided abroad one would end up with the false view stated above.

Where is the NHK man they have more TVs than my whole family. More carpet than the emporer. Was going to peruse a sport but obviously best to get fat with no effort but lots of cash.

Cut the cost! Cut more! It's just sports event. Human can live without it. Not worthy of extravagant spending.

These high and mighty decision makers are worried about the heat???

Did they ever stop to think about the weather??
