This is the norm. It is only hard to tell when between Japanese and other Asians. Many in sports and show biz and politics.

Ah Japan and sports. When they embrace "hafu" and foreign born Japanese. A shame this isn't the norm.

Good news for Indonesia there. Very pleasantly surprised they got the silver.
Re: the diversity comment. I don't know what that has to do with. Japan is not a nation of immigrants. Diversity just for the sake of being diverse is meaningless.
On the other hand, by population, Asia is the largest, most diverse continent in the world.
Ever heard of the Pan Am games? Or the African Games? Yes, they exist too, and yes, they are also pretty diverse.

Diversity? Its only Asians
Ganbare Japan!
Unbelievable! Omedettoh!! Japan is rising fast in world athletics, especially sprinting. With Bolt retired now; Japan must be the big favorite in 2020, especially if the team members all improve times to under 10 second. I really like Kiryu-chan.

Just wish the rest of society would be so receptive of diversity, like they are in sports here!
