@tooheys This has little to do with how rich the players are but alot to do with how rich the owners are. If you ever played professional baseball and toiled in the minor leagues then you would understand instead of making a comment about what you only see on the outside. The players are fighting for minor league player to get better pay. There are some minor league player who play and have to work a part time job just to make ends meet. I guess you don't know about that because you NEVER PLAYED Professional baseball in the states. The owners are filthy rich. They revenues come from Television broadcast, TV advertisements, Merchandising, parking, food concessions, ticket sales. The average player salary for a minor league player is about $6,000 for a Single-A player, $9,350 for a Double-A player and $15,000 for Triple-A player. To make matters worse, I bet you didn't know this. At the minor league level the major league teams DOES NOT PAY the minor league salaries. The owners of the farm team that they are on pay those salaries (farm team) like getting a animal off a farm. The only control the Major league owner have over the farm teams is supplying players. Once a player is moved from a minor league farm team the major league team "PURCHASES the contract of that player" this is why when a player is called up from the minors to the BIg Leagues he is payed the "MINIMUM Major League salary" THIS TOO THE PLAYERS HAD TO FIGHT FOR. This is why salaries are huge players toil down in the minors for years and when they do get a chance they look at that as getting their due!!! The owners want to keep it all. I know BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!
